What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

Parker Pearce Service Experts in Gaithersburg always writes about how our team of experts are NATE-certified, and while it sounds comforting, what does it really mean?

NATE is the acronym for North American Technician Excellence and, as stated on their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed by and has been supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not everyone in the industry is required to be certified through NATE. The certification is voluntary and technicians can provide heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration services without being NATE-certified.

It’s important to Parker Pearce Service Experts that our experts are NATE-certified to ensure we are sending the most qualified and skilled technicians into your home. To make sure professionals meet these benchmarks, the NATE-certification tests validate real-world working knowledge of HVACR systems for technicians. The tests are knowledge-based assessments that assess the technician’s knowledge of these criteria.

Since Parker Pearce Service Experts focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification instead of refrigeration, there are only specific areas relevant to our technicians. NATE test candidates may obtain installation and/or service certification in one or more of the talent areas listed below:

  • Air Conditioning
  • Air Distribution
