From time-to-time bad things can happen to good people. And sometimes, these people focus their misfortune into a chance to comfort others. Many in the heating and AC service industry know a man who did just that. His name is Joe Groh, and he lives here in Texas.
Joe was in the HVAC industry for nearly 30 years before a biking accident left him paralyzed from the neck down. Regardless of his immobility, Joe wanted to stay connected in the HVAC industry, so he created the Joseph Groh Foundation. The foundation works with companies in the construction trades industries, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical and roofing, to offer short and long-term disability insurance for their employees. It also acts as an information forum on spinal cord injuries.
The Joseph Groh Foundation also offers financial assistance to those in the industry or their family members who have experienced a life altering injury or illness. Recipients have used money from the foundation in several ways, for instance making homes wheel chair accessible by widening doorways, ramp additions, redoing flooring and purchasing adaptive equipment. To answer financial assistance requests, the foundation holds a variety of fundraisers year-round.
Parker Pearce Service Experts regularly supports Joe and his mission to help others in the HVAC industry that have been impacted by a life altering accident and was proud to sponsor one of the Joseph Groh Foundation’s recent golf tournament fundraisers. The Service Experts Tournament for the Joseph Groh Foundation took place at Coyote Ridge Golf Club in the Dallas TX metro area on May 4. With 131 golfers on the links this year, the tournament raised more than $52,000.
“We are happy to support Joe and his efforts to assist others with his real life message of inspiring hope through adversity,” says Scott Boxer, CEO and President of Service Experts. “Whether it’s in Gaithersburg or the nearly 85 markets across North America, Service Experts is committed to the communities we serve.”
While Parker Pearce Service Experts supports a number of charities and organizations across Gaithersburg, we’re particularly proud to give back to organizations in the AC and furnace industry. To learn more about the Joseph Groh Foundation, visit josephgrohfoundation.org.
